
About Brentford Road All Stars
It all began with Coxsone Dodd's sound system in 1950. After working as a plantation worker in Florida for some time Coxsone earned enough money to buy an amp, speakers and lots of records which he brought back with him to Jamaica. There he (and his mother) set up a sound system in front of the family's record-shop to promote the music they were selling and to play up for dances. This proved to be an extraordinary success, and soon competition came in the person of Duke "The Trojan" Reid
