The Latin poet Bonaiuto of Casentino (died c.1312) was originally from Borgo all Collina, near Poppi in the province of Arezzo. He arrived in Rome in the winter of 1291-1292 and over the next nine years he pursued a successful career as a writer and chaplain at the papal court. Two religious lyrics in his Diversiloquium are accompanied in the manuscript by musical notation, and the sequence Hec media corporals, has entered the modern performance repertoire of medieval Italian music.
