About birdlife
birdlife is Mike McCarthy, Ellie Plummer and Jess Locke. Formed in 2008 by McCarthy after recording a run of alternate 'lo-fi' songs to his normal blues/folk style. The band formed with Plummer on drums, McCarthy (guitar/vocals) and Sarah Humphreys on Bass/Vocals. The trio played in Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle before Humphreys left in lew of a burgeoning solo career. Jess Locke joined birdlife in 2009. The band's "What of Past" featured on Spunk Records 'Singles Club', a compilation of independent 'up'n'comers' in Australia.
