About Bird From the Abyss
Bird From the Abyss was the solo recording project of J. Matias Aaltonen, based in Kangasala, Finland, started in 2009. Using both analogue synthesis and a dynamic range of acoustic instrumentation, his music crafts definitively archaic compositions and flawlessly timed improvisations steeped in universal mystery. Although hailing from Finland’s primeval forests, where nighttime dominates the dayside, the music of BFTA is more exotic, more Mediterranean - its aura is culled from the ancient Egyptian ethos
