About Bernardo Clavijo del Castillo
Bernardo Clavijo del Castillo (b ?Navarre, c 1549; d ?Madrid, after 1 Feb 1626). Spanish organist. He was maestro de capilla of the palatine chapel in Palermo (1569-87) and organist to the viceroy (1587-8). As organist of the cathedrals of Palencia (1589-92) and Salamanca (from 1592) he gained a high reputation, becoming professor of music at Salamanca University (1593) and succeeding Cabezón as músico de tecla of the Capilla Real (1603). A book of motets (1588) by him survives.
