
Benet Brell (Barcelona, 1786 - Montserrat, 1850) was a chapel master, composer, organist and Catalan Benedictine monk of the first half of the 19th Century. He was a member of the Escolania de Montserrat from the age of 10; there he received music lessons from Narcís Casanoves and Anselm Viola . In 1803 he entered the monastery as a monk. His first compositions date from the following year. After the French War , he stood out for the task of restoring the school
