About Benedict Schultheiss
Benedict Schultheiss (also spelled Schultheiß; sometimes Schultheis) was a German organist, harpsichordist, and composer who spent his life in Nuremberg, where he was baptised on 20 September 1653 and died on 1 March 1693. He came from a locally rooted clerical–civic milieu—his father Hieronymus Schultheiß served as a deacon and later an administrator at St Sebald—and, on his mother’s side, from a family of French Huguenot origin (the Jaquet family) that had settled in Nuremberg.
