Beat Ratio is a Synthpop solo project based in Melbourne, Australia, challenging the modern music making process by using equipment exclusively from the 1980s. Born out of the frustration caused by constantly getting “stuck” in the perfectionism afforded by software, Beat Ratio’s approach to music making is one in which the limitations of cassette tapes, synths and drum machines are not seen as a drawback but rather as a tool for stimulating creativity.
