Baraflokkurinn er sennilega ein þekktasta sveit Akureyringa frá níunda áratugnum, stofnuð seinni hluta árs 1980. Að sögn þeirra félaga var hún stofnuð af tómum leiðindum. Baraflokkinn skipuðu söngvarinn Ásgeir Jónsson, bassaleikarinn Baldvin H. Baldvinsson, bræðurnir Þór Freysson, gítar, og Jón Arnar Freysson, hljómborð og loks trommarinn Árni Henriksson. Sveitin þótti meira tónleikaband en ballhljómsveit og var tónlist þeirra félaga gjarnan líkt við tónlist David Bowie.
