An Australian power metal band formed in 2009 under the name Winterstorm; which they changed to Bane of Winterstorm in 2011 to avoid confusion with the many bands of the same name. They describe their sound as dark symphonic metal, and state that their influences include bands such as Blind Guardian, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Dragonland, Dragonlord, Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Howard Shore, Iced Earth, Luca Turilli, Nightwish, Rhapsody, Sylosis, Symphony X, Voyager.
