The band formed sometime in 2001 as "Coup d'e tat", with former members of the Key Party label such as Arisu Arisugawa from Missalina Rei on vocals and Soushi Abe from Noir Fleurir on drums. In March 2004, Coup d'e tat changed their name to antique post paper, and Arisu secedes from the band leaving guitarist Takahiro Kudou to become both the guitarist and vocalist of the band.
