About Americus Brass Band
The Americus Brass Band was founded in 1976 by a group of music students at California State University, Long Beach. Originally attracted to Civil War reenacting, the band’s founders sought authenticity in dress and instrumentation as well as music. With the help of several Civil War historians and collectors, a full complement of authentic period instruments was acquired and a large library of original music was secured.
