About Alois Posch
Alois Posch is a leading European orchestral double bass player. He started studying violin and piano at the age of ten. At fifteen, he discovered that that contrabass was the right instrument for him. He entered the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst (Academy for Music and Allied Arts) in Graz. There he studied the instrument with Professor Johannes Auersperg. After winning prizes in competitions for younger musicians he obtained a position in the Vienna Philharmonic in 1977, at the age of eighteen.
