Originally from Newark, New Jersey, Aliza wrote her first song at age 6. Between the ages of 6 and 16, Aliza wrote over 250 original songs. Of African-American and Puerto Rican descent, musical influences were diverse. Aliza sang gospel, spiritual and secular music in grade school; in high school she sang opera and choral music, and in college sang musical theater and was the lead singer of an afrobeat band. In 2008 Aliza acted in an indie feature film called “Something is Killing Tate.
