About Alexis Gewertz Shepard
Alexis Gewertz Shepard (born 1969, died March 31, 1998) was a folk singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. She led the Alexis Shepard Band, also including John Rapoza, Jerry O'Hare, and Mike Aiello. She was killed while riding her bicycle when she was hit by a truck. Shepard died just before recording her debut album. A group of Boston-area musicians, including Faith Soloway, Jenny Reynolds, and Esther Friedman, collaborated to release an album of Shepard's songs (from demos and live recordings) after her death.
