About Alex Slobodyanik
Alex Slobodyanik is recognised by critics, audiences and his fellow musicians worldwide as a major figure among the new generation of pianists. He began piano lessons at the age of six with his mother, Natalia, and at seven entered the Central Music School in Moscow, where he studied with Rene Shereshevskaya. On moving to the USA in 1989 he resumed his musical studies with Nina Svetlanova. He went to Cleveland in 1991 to study at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Sergei Babayan, who has been his teacher and mentor since 1985.
