Alessandro Capece (c. 1575 – after 1636) was a celebrated polyphonist of the Roman school who travelled from Rieti to Sulmona between 1617 and 1618 in order to take up his post as chapel master of the church of Santissima Annunziata, where he remained until 1624, before moving to the Cathedral of Tivoli and joining his professional career to that of the then-youthful organist Giacomo Carissimi. Capece’s output of sacred works increased during his time at Sulmona by as many as four collections of motets.
