Albertus Bryne (also found under the spellings Albert Bryan and Albert Brian) was an English organist and composer active in the mid-seventeenth century, associated above all with St Paul’s Cathedral and, near the end of his life, Westminster Abbey. He was probably born around 1621 and was educated by John Tomkins, organist of St Paul’s. Bryne is generally understood to have succeeded Tomkins as organist at St Paul’s in 1638, holding the post
