(Barney) Alan Maralung (1925-1990) was a Aboriginal Australian wangga singer and clapstick player. In 1988, Allan Marett recorded Maralung performing a selection of his songs, which Maralung stated were given to him in a dream by several spirits, including one known as Bunggridj-bunggridj. An album with these recordings was eventually released by Smithsonian Folkways. They remain one of the most important recordings in the genre, as well as a valuable historical document.
