Afrika, Africa in Hausa, is a 6-peiece band of Algerians friends living in Montreal. These Montrealers, keen on covering North African global anthems, have the power to raise these songs high. Doubled with the power to stir up crowds, in the Algerian rai, chaoui and kabyle styles. Virtuoso instrumentalists communing with original instruments with grace and accuracy, including the darbouka – an astonishing membranophone percussion instrument – the Afirka Band stands out for its re-appropriation of a unique repertoire.
