Advances In Mathematics are a mostly instrumental post-rock band formed in Manchester in 2008. They are frequently compared to post-rock acts including Explosions In The Sky and Mogwai, but their music also has a strong indie and shoegaze influence. Featuring Ben Ambridge (guitar), Iain Mitchell (guitar / bass) and Adam Comstive (bass / guitar), the band has worked with a number of drummers, with Hywell Dinsdale currently in the seat, whose distinctive and creative drumming has added an extra dimension to the group's sound.
