4th and Long formed in the summer of 2002 when members Scott Blankenship wanted to enter the Battle of the Bands at the Meramec Community Fair. They called friends Justin Falloon, Travis Hood, and Billy Schatz and began practicing a few cover songs for the fair. Later that summer, after Justin left, Scott, Tyler, Travis, and Billy began recording the group's first album, "Hell Hath No Fury..." but in the middle of recording, Billy left the band
