17 Dogs is an experimental soundscape project of Neil French, who samples and reprocesses sounds such as children's toys, abandoned buildings, computer games, and domestic appliances: 'When I hear beautiful sounds I want to turn them in to something ugly, and when I hear ugly sounds I want to turn them in to something beautiful'. 17 Dogs also incorporates instruments like piano, synths and accordion, often played in broken or out of tune states.
